Zoom Meeting: Improve your Landscape Photography

Presented by Peter Baumgarten

On Tuesday, March 5th at 7pm Peter Baumgarten will present ‘Into the Landscape’ – Strategies to Improve your Landscape Photography. Landscape photography has been – and still remains – the most popular style of photography. Whether you travel the world, or just explore your local area, there are countless photo opportunities that exist for the landscape photographer. Peter Baumgarten has been a passionate outdoor photographer for over 40 years.

In this seminar, Peter discusses the challenges and joys of landscape photography and the compositional strategies he employs “to get the shot”. Numerous compositional techniques will be explored.

Peter Baumgarten is an award-winning professional photographer and educator based on Manitoulin Island. He has led photography courses and workshops for novice and enthusiast photographers and travels across North America as an Olympus Visionary providing lectures and seminars on landscape, wildlife, and astrophotography. His love of photography has also become a great excuse to continue his other passion – exploring the great outdoors through wilderness camping, canoeing and kayaking.

In-person meeting: How to Photograph an Eclipse

On Tuesday March 12 at 7pm Laura Parisi will present an informative presentation for those interested in preparing for the upcoming total eclipse on April 8.

If you have photographed the eclipse in the past, did you get a shot of Baily’s Beads, the Diamond Ring or possibly the double diamond ring? Well, here is your chance to learn how to photograph the eclipse and possibly even photograph the beads and diamond ring. Don’t know what they are? These will be discussed. You will only have a maximum of about three minutes of totality, so there is no time to waste in the moment.

Things you will learn include:

  • lenses that would be best to use
  • why Laura prefers to use solar filters that do not screw on the front of your lens
  • which solar filter she prefers to use
  • when to use the filter, when to take it off and why, and other events solar filters can be used for
  • where to buy solar filter supplies
  • other equipment you would need to get the best solar eclipse photographs

Don’t miss your one chance to experience a total solar eclipse on April 8, as the next total eclipse that can be seen from the continental United States will be on August 23, 2044. Be sure to join us for this presentation at 7pm on March 12 downstairs at Hope Christian Church, 211 Montowese Ave in North Haven.
