North Haven Camera Club is proud to host a presentation by Joe Howard on capturing waterfalls.

Joe Howard is a passionate landscape photographer originally from St. Louis, Missouri now living in North Haven, Connecticut. He has a love for landscape photography, more specifically waterfall photography, and enjoys all things outdoors.

IN PERSON: “Creating Photos with Impact” presented by Chane Cullens

Our April presenter Chane Cullens explores the power of photography to evoke emotion. He delves into four crucial principles:

  • Storytelling: crafting narratives;
  • Creativity: finding unique perspectives;
  • Composition: guiding the viewer’s eye; and
  • Technical Excellence: achieving quality through skill and editing.

Additionally, the presentation includes practical guidance on how to identify these principles within your own photographs and provides concrete ideas for enhancing each area.

Chane Cullens is a local Connecticut photographer, and has been using Canon cameras since 1987. Known for both his photography presentations and computer knowledge, he shares insights at various local events and conferences. He has received an Honorary Member (HonNEC) award from NECCC for his service on the Council and to the photographic community. Chane focuses on educating photographers on a wide variety of topics from camera and photo basics to helping judges give constructive feedback.

IN PERSON: Hazel Meredith presents “Layers and Masking Demystified”

Learn why layers are important – and useful – when working in Photoshop. Hazel will review the various types of layers and how they can make your workflow easier. She will also show us how to apply masking to a layer – a task many feel intimidated by. It’s easier than you think!

Hazel Meredith, APSA, HonNEC, is an award-winning photographer and a sought-after teacher, speaker, and competition judge. She also offers her own workshops, webinars and seminars, both in-person and virtual. Hazel loves the creative aspect of photography and post-processing, especially the use of textures and software to create unique images. In 2020 she was the recipient of the Ashbrook Award for Digital Imaging Instruction from the Photographic Society of America.
