IN PERSON: Hazel Meredith presents “Layers and Masking Demystified”

Learn why layers are important – and useful – when working in Photoshop. Hazel will review the various types of layers and how they can make your workflow easier. She will also show us how to apply masking to a layer – a task many feel intimidated by. It’s easier than you think!

Hazel Meredith, APSA, HonNEC, is an award-winning photographer and a sought-after teacher, speaker, and competition judge. She also offers her own workshops, webinars and seminars, both in-person and virtual. Hazel loves the creative aspect of photography and post-processing, especially the use of textures and software to create unique images. In 2020 she was the recipient of the Ashbrook Award for Digital Imaging Instruction from the Photographic Society of America.

IN PERSON: Phil Atiyeh presents “Fireworks! Capturing and Creating Works of Art”

North Haven Camera Club is proud to present a two part presentation by accomplished award winning photographer Phil Atiyeh. The first half of Phil’s presentation will focus on how to take a great fireworks photo and the second half of his presentation will show attendees how to turn those photos into works of art.

IN PERSON: Charles Unitas presents “Lighting for Portrait Photography”

Duck Unitas - Portrait Demo

Charles (“Duck”) Unitas will share key lighting concepts for use in portrait photography. Learn the fundamentals of flash, light placement, and modifiers to create captivating images. Explore various lighting setups and techniques for different moods and styles. Gain confidence in directing your subjects and expand your skills with multi-light configurations.

  • Effective light placement and modifiers
  • Directing your subject for compelling portraits
  • Building more complex lighting setups
  • Hands-on demonstration and Q&A session

Leave the presentation with a solid foundation in portrait lighting and the inspiration to experiment
with your own creative vision.

What to bring:

  • Depending on how it goes, you may have a chance at getting some hands-on
    experience so bring your camera. If for nothing else, to document the setups shown
    during the workshop. (remember to empty memory cards and charge your batteries ahead of time).
  • Definitely bring something to take notes with, as he will cover a lot of information and it will help you to have something to refer to afterwards.
  • If you have a Godox flash trigger please bring it with you. (please be prepared to share it)

“Duck” is a certified professional photographer, graphic designer and illustrator operating a small photography studio in Shelton, Connecticut. His work ranges from food, product and brand
photography to corporate headshots, logo design and spot illustrations. Primarily specializing in tabletop photography for ecommerce and environmental portraiture, his has a wide range of retail clients.
“Duck” also teaches photography and photo editing through various local camera clubs, meetup groups and his own workshops, both live and online.
